The fleet that keeps running is already synchronized, and it is not a gas-and-nuclear fleet. Calendar 2025 generation was 287 terawatt hours. Fossil fuels were 60.4 percent, and inside that print Coal was 42.7 percent, Gas was 16.2 percent, and oil was 1.6 percent. Renewables were 39.6 percent, and inside that print Solar was 19.7 percent, wind was 14.0 percent, and hydro was 4.7 percent. The fetched national fuel table has no nuclear row. A China cargo stop does not switch those plants off.

Calendar 2024 is the cross-check, and it is a wider boundary than the NEM. Total generation was 283,920 gigawatt hours, up 3 percent. Renewables were 102,403 gigawatt hours, or 36 percent. Fossil fuels were 181,518 gigawatt hours, or 64 percent. Coal was 45 percent, down from 46 percent in 2023. Solar was 18 percent, wind was 12 percent, and hydro was 5 percent. The series covers power plants and own-use by businesses and households.

The wires past the generator are a separate cash and distance book. The NEM covers around 40,000 km of transmission lines and cables, supplying a population exceeding 23 million. It supplies Approx 181.4 terawatt hours a year. The fact sheet prints $17.7 billion traded in FY23-24. More than 600 registered participants includes generators, transmission and distribution network service providers, and market customers. Western Australia and the Northern Territory are not connected to the NEM.

China is the majority of the large-transformer import book, which is the opposite of a Mexico-led book. In 2024 Australia imported $86,598.95 thousand of liquid-dielectric transformers above 10,000 kVA, and 95 items. China was $51,666.33 thousand and 37 items. Calculated from those dollars, China was 59.7 percent of the value. Calculated from the items, China was 38.9 percent of the transformer count. Korea was $17,579.03 thousand and 4 items. Calculated from the dollars, Korea was 20.3 percent. Korea still ships when the China row stops.

The transformer page is a low-exposure proof, not a hidden Taiwan majority. WITS prints Other Asia, nes at $552.80 thousand and 1 item. Calculated from the dollars, Other Asia, nes was 0.6 percent. No WITS row is titled Taiwan, Chinese Taipei, or 158. Other Asia, nes is not Taiwan. Continuing suppliers already printed are Korea at 20.3 percent, then Indonesia, Finland, and Thailand. A foundry-revenue share is not used.

Static converters, the basket that contains inverters, are a second China majority. The residual partner is not a Taiwan row. 2024 imports were $1,641,671.83 thousand and 30,320,000 items. China was $692,850.26 thousand and 20,368,900 items. Calculated from the dollars, China was 42.2 percent. Calculated from the items, China was 67.2 percent of the static-converter count. Spain was $287,627.95 thousand. Calculated the same way, Spain was 17.5 percent. Other Asia, nes was $25,153.66 thousand. Calculated the same way, Other Asia, nes was 1.5 percent.

That converter exposure sits on a large rooftop fleet. Rooftop solar capacity was 22,500 MW, printed as 25.5 percent of NEM capacity at December 2024. Coal capacity was 21,255 MW, printed as 24.1 percent. Gas capacity was 12,177 MW. Wood Mackenzie counted 536 GWac of global PV inverter shipments in 2023, with nine of the top 10 vendors headquartered in China. The page ties China's half of shipments to Chinese solar demand. That global ranking is not the Australian customs share. The customs share is China was 42.2 percent.

The 0-3 month analog is a directed-megawatt event, not a year-over-year price index. A page dated 16 June 2022 says AEMO suspended the spot market in all NEM regions from 14:05 AEST 15 June and was forced to direct 5 gigawatts of generation on 14 June. Factors listed include around 3000 MW of coal-fired generation out through unplanned events. The page says a pre-determined suspension pricing schedule applies and does not print the price. The AER June 2022 market events report does print it: the limit was $300 per megawatt hour. The same report says AEMO suspended the NEM from 15 to 23 June 2022. The AEMO price-cap media release returned HTTP 403, so it is not the price source.

No Australian transformer lead-time series was on the pages fetched. The multi-year equipment analog used here is a U.S. DOE print, labeled as foreign. Orders that took two to four months now take 22 to 33 months, described as a 443 percent increase, across over 80,000 distribution-transformer varieties. The short end of the DOE band is 22 months. It is not an AER rule and it is not an Australian measurement.

Cyber placement uses the joint advisory and, separately, U.S. sector doctrine. The advisory names energy among the sectors compromised and says the shift is from espionage to pre-positioning. CISA states that Presidential Policy Directive 21 treats energy as uniquely critical because it provides an enabling function, and that energy is divided into electricity, oil, and natural gas. In this planning model, NEM generation, the WA and NT systems, transmission, AEMO, distribution operations, and ports are Wave 1. Distribution is Wave 1 because it is the electricity network, not because a contractor is phished. Line crews are Wave 3.

A China stop removes the China transformer row, not the coal and gas that are already online. China was 59.7 percent of 2024 import value above 10,000 kVA and 37 of 95 items. Korea was 20.3 percent. Coal was 42.7 percent of 2025 generation and Gas was 16.2 percent. The fetched fuel table does not list nuclear.

The Taiwan path is not the one-item Other Asia, nes row. Other Asia, nes was 0.6 percent of value, equal to $552.80 thousand and 1 item, and that partner is not named Taiwan. A restriction on code 490 is not a measured Taiwan cut. The book empties only if the China row stops and Korea, Indonesia, Finland, and Thailand cannot cover the slot.

Inverters are the electronics dependency that is actually large. China was 42.2 percent of static-converter value and China was 67.2 percent of the static-converter count. Other Asia, nes was 1.5 percent. Spain was 17.5 percent and is the largest non-China value row in the fetched top partners. Rooftop solar capacity was 22,500 MW, so a stop in replacement inverters hits a fleet that is already bigger than NEM coal capacity.

The short-horizon failure mode is a coal outage plus directions, observed in June 2022, not an empty fuel berth. The operator was forced to direct 5 gigawatts on 14 June, with around 3000 MW of coal out, and then suspended the spot market in every NEM region. No fetched page in this research quantifies a China share of the coal or gas burned in those plants. The continuing fact is the installed fleet, not a claim of fuel autarky.

Geography splits the country. Coal is more than half of generation in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, and the state table prints NSW coal at 55.3 percent. NSW includes the Australian Capital Territory. Western Australian gas was 57.4 percent. Northern Territory gas was 81.4 percent. Tasmanian hydro was 71.8 percent, and the page states renewables were 97.5 percent of Tasmania and 77.1 percent of South Australia. WA and NT are not in the NEM, so an NEM suspension is not a national blackout.

Week-1 cyber risk is assigned to the electricity networks and to AEMO because the joint advisory names energy and an Australian agency co-authored it, and because U.S. doctrine treats electricity as enabling infrastructure. The advisory is foreign to this grid: the victims printed in it are in the United States and its territories, and it names no Australian utility and no outage dollar. The ACSC factsheet lists Electricity, Water and Utilities at 17 percent of critical-infrastructure incidents. The Australian wave tags are planning inference. Transformer importers, inverter vendors, and retailers are Wave 2. Line crews are Wave 3.
