Australian general insurance is a concentrated direct market, not a U.S. personal-auto market. In the June 2026 quarter, direct insurers from large groups recorded insurance revenue of 12559 million Australian dollars and total direct insurers recorded 19340 million Australian dollars. Large groups were a calculated 64.9 percent of direct-insurer insurance revenue. The two inputs are 12559 and 19340. Industry insurance revenue was 20376 million Australian dollars. APRA does not name the groups.

The shock quarter already on the page is December 2025, not a China stop. Profit after tax was 134 million Australian dollars. The September 2025 quarter was 2265 million Australian dollars and the June 2026 quarter was 2253 million Australian dollars. In the December 2025 quarter, householders gross claims were a calculated 126.3 percent of householders insurance revenue. The two inputs are gross claims of 5448 million Australian dollars and insurance revenue of 4314 million Australian dollars.

The China path is bulk goods on the water, then a small marine premium. On the goods-only factsheet, China was 35.2 percent of goods exports. The 2025-26 column prints China goods exports of 187679 million Australian dollars inside total goods exports of 533332 million Australian dollars. Marine and aviation gross written premium was 326 million Australian dollars in the June 2026 quarter. That premium is not 35.2 percent of anything in the APRA file.

A second China trade series must stay separate. The country brief says goods and services exports to China were 196 billion dollars in 2025 and 29 per cent of global goods and services exports, inside two-way goods and services trade of 326 billion dollars and 25 per cent. The 35.2 percent figure is goods only. Ships carry goods. The 29 per cent figure is not the marine denominator.

Taiwan is a named goods-export share, not an insurer Taiwan premium. Taiwan was 2.9 percent of goods exports. The 2025-26 column prints 15607 million Australian dollars. Australia's goods-export share is not an insurer's Taiwan premium. APRA's class list does not name Taiwan. No Taiwan premium or reserve was in the APRA database or in the QBE half-year report opened. That absence is the low-exposure proof.

Cyber is the insurer's own systems and a small product class. Financial and insurance services accounted for 32 percent of critical-infrastructure incidents in the ACSC factsheet. The guidance line is to isolate vital OT and enabling systems for 3 months. Cyber gross written premium was 69 million Australian dollars. Cyber risks written were 8000. That premium, not an average cybercrime cost, is the product book. A foreign press report says a U.S. insurer paid 40 million dollars. CNA is not commenting on the ransom. Wave order remains a planning model.

A second insurer report sizes a marine mix that APRA does not split. Marine energy and aviation was 2.2 percent of the Australia Pacific gross written premium mix. That row includes energy and aviation. It is not cargo only. QBE reported a combined operating ratio of 92.8 percent for the half year. The Australia Pacific combined operating ratio was 88.2 percent, compared with 86.8 percent in the prior period. Those ratios are six months, ended 30 June 2026, and the premium mix is not an Australian-dollar APRA class. They are not the 0-3 month analog.

The cyclone reinsurance pool is a domestic claims backstop beside the APRA quarter. The 30 June 2026 quarterly statistics say total annual cyclone pool premiums are approximately 675 million dollars, the pool has received 133,078 claims to date, and total net incurred is approximately 1.65 billion dollars. As at 31 July 2026, ARPC had paid approximately 1.37 billion dollars in claims. The annual performance note says the cyclone pool passed 1 billion dollars in claims paid since 2022 and that ARPC recorded gross written premiums of 1.092 billion dollars. The 675 million dollar pool-premium row and the 1.092 billion dollar corporate gross written premium are different series and are not merged. Seven declared events generated more than 3.98 billion dollars in insured losses. The largest declared event incurred costs of 2.2 billion dollars. That event is shorter than a year. The December APRA quarter remains the quarter analog.

Domestic motor and compulsory third party continue as local classes. Domestic motor gross written premium was 4941 million Australian dollars and risks written were 4622000. Compulsory third party gross written premium was 1155 million Australian dollars. They are not the China cargo story and they are not a U.S. personal-auto market.

China trade stopping hits the goods that move on ships. China was 35.2 percent of goods exports. Iron ore and concentrates were 118755 million Australian dollars and 22.3 percent of all goods exports. That 22.3 percent is a global commodity share on the factsheet. It is not a China-only iron-ore share, and the factsheet does not print one.

The insurer premium tied to that cargo is the marine and aviation class. Marine and aviation gross written premium was 326 million Australian dollars. Marine and aviation risks written were 327000. June 2026 gross claims were 169 million Australian dollars and December 2025 gross claims were 191 million Australian dollars. Marine energy and aviation was 2.2 percent of the Australia Pacific gross written premium mix, and that row includes energy and aviation, so it is not a cargo-only China share. The China share of the APRA marine premium is unpublished. Dividing one quarter of marine premium by a year of exports is not done here.

Householders and reinsurance are the domestic shock already measured. Profit after tax was 134 million Australian dollars in the December 2025 quarter. Householders gross claims were 5448 million Australian dollars. Direct incurred claims were a calculated 50.4 percent of insurance revenue in the June 2026 quarter. The two inputs are the absolute value of direct-business incurred claims, 10262 million Australian dollars, and insurance revenue of 20376 million Australian dollars. The database prints the claims expense as a negative. This ratio is not an AASB 17 combined ratio. The file does not contain a combined ratio.

Domestic motor and compulsory third party do not depend on a Chinese buyer. Domestic motor gross written premium was 4941 million Australian dollars. Compulsory third party risks written were 5909000. A China stop does not cancel those policies. Calling this market a U.S. personal-auto book would misstate the classes.

Taiwan exports slowing is a goods fact. Taiwan was 2.9 percent of goods exports, 15607 million Australian dollars, and the growth column prints a 6.0 percent decline. Singapore's goods-export share on the same table is also 2.9 percent, so the Taiwan sentence has to name Taiwan. No insurer Taiwan book was in APRA.

A direct cyber hit lands on a concentrated carrier set. Financial and insurance services accounted for 32 percent of critical-infrastructure incidents. ASD's ACSC responded to over 1200 cyber security incidents in the factsheet year, and critical infrastructure made up 13 percent of incidents. Isolate vital OT and enabling systems for 3 months is preparedness guidance, not an observed insurer outage length.
